Newspapers are entitled Guest-workers and migrants and focus on questions of labor mobility and its political and social consequences, trying to include variaty of historical and geographical backgrounds which influenced multilayered experiences of migration.
Second in a series of three Gallery Nova newspapers included newly commissioned and older texts, as well as artistic contributions in the form of visual essays. This issue reflects on 50 year anniversary of gastarbeiters in Austria and Germany. Through mapping neuralgic points of this celebration, it revealed the blind spots of the position of the of gastarbeiters and failures of their integration.
Third in a series of Gallery Nova newspapers, available for free in the gallery Nova and at relevant cultural and educational venues throughout the city, under the title "They were, those people, a kind of solution - New perspectives on migrations and European responsibility “ was focused on issues of the changing conjunctures of racism in Europe as well as on mobile labor and logistics in a digitized economy.
The texts in this issue will attempt to reawaken the memories of gastarbeiters in order to historicize the current experience of migration and its dangerous political appropriations.
The second issue of the transnational multilingual web-journal Transversal presented papers from the conference held in Vienna in October 2017.
The book "They’ll Never Walk Alone: The Life and Afterlife of Gastarbeiters" incorporated the contributions to the conference with the same title, as well as transcribed multilingual discussions.
